Privacy Policy

Last updated 21 September 2026

MOTION is a calorie-tracking app run by Gideon Ojelede, a sole proprietor based in Alberta, Canada. This policy explains what the app collects, why, and what you can do about it. It's written to be read rather than skimmed — if anything here is unclear, email support@motionapp.app and ask.

The short version. MOTION stores what you log so it can show you your own history. Your meal photos are private to you. The only things other people ever see are your username, your points and your region. Nothing is sold, and there are no ads.

What MOTION collects

What you tell us when you sign up

Your email address, a password, a display name and a username. To build your calorie plan, MOTION also asks for your sex, date of birth, height, current weight, target weight, goal and general activity level.

Some of this is health information. It's collected because the plan cannot be calculated without it — the formula MOTION uses needs your age, sex, height and weight — and for no other purpose.

What you log

Meals and their nutrition figures, photos of meals where you take them, weigh-ins, and the days on which you logged. This is the substance of the app: without it there is nothing to show you.

Health and fitness data from your device

If you connect Apple Health on iPhone, or Health Connect on Android, MOTION reads your steps, active minutes, calories burned, workouts and heart rate. It never writes to them, never changes anything there, and never shares that data with anyone. MOTION works without either of them, and you can disconnect at any time:

Data read from Apple Health or Health Connect is used only to show your own activity inside MOTION. It is not used for advertising, not sold, not shared with other users or third parties, and not used to train any AI model.

What MOTION does not collect

Who else sees your data

Google (Gemini)

When you photograph a meal or describe one aloud, that photo or recording is sent to Google's Gemini service, which works out what the food is and estimates its calories. It's used to answer that one question and nothing else — not to build a profile of you, and not, as far as we direct it, to train anything.

Google processes it under their own terms. If you'd rather no photo left your device, log meals by searching or by barcode instead — both work without sending anything to Gemini.

Supabase

Your account and everything you log is stored with Supabase, which provides MOTION's database and file storage. Your meal photos sit in a private storage area that only your own account can open.

Apple and Google Play

If you subscribe, Apple (on iPhone) or Google Play (on Android) handles the payment and tells MOTION only whether the subscription is active. MOTION never sees your card.

RevenueCat

RevenueCat keeps track of whether your subscription is active, so MOTION can unlock Pro on whichever device you sign in on. It receives an anonymous account identifier and your purchase status — not your name, your meals or your health data.

Other users

The leaderboard shows your username, your points and your region — and nothing else. Your real name, email, weight, meals and photos are never shown to anyone. You can leave the regional board at any time by choosing "No region" in your profile.

MOTION does not sell your data. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone. There is no arrangement under which a third party pays to learn what you eat.

What you can do

If you're in the EU, the UK, or another region with data-protection law, those rights apply to you regardless of what this policy says. Email support@motionapp.app to exercise any of them.

How long it's kept

For as long as your account exists. Delete your account and it goes with it. Backups may persist for a short period afterwards as part of normal database operation, but are not used to restore deleted accounts.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit. Your meal photos are stored privately and can only be viewed through short-lived links generated for your account. Access to your records is enforced at the database level, not just in the app.

No system is perfectly secure, and it would be dishonest to claim otherwise. If you believe your account has been compromised, email support@motionapp.app.

Children

MOTION is not intended for children under 13, and accounts should not be created for them. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, email support@motionapp.app and it will be removed.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that materially affects you, the app will say so rather than quietly updating the date at the top. The current version always lives at this address.
